• About Kannada

    Kannada (ಕನ್ನಡ), also known as Kanarese, is spoken predominantly in Karnataka, which is the eighth largest state in India, by an estimated 56.9 million speakers (2011 census). Kannada’s rich literary and cultural heritage spans over 2,000 years. Recognized as a Classical Language of India in 2011, Kannada has an unbroken literary history, and works in Kannada have received India’s highest literary awards

  • Namma Kannada Kalike Kaaryakram (N3K)

    “Namma Kannada Kalike Kaaryakrama” translating to "Our Kannada Learning Program," was established five years ago to nurture Kannada Language and Culture through an education program. The program has grown into a ACS WASC-accredited institution (WASC code: 39 48961 999) in 2025, with a mission to expand Kannada language education across San Joaquin County and beyond. It is dedicated to helping learners develop “beginner” to “high school grade” skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking Kannada.

    The program operates under the auspices of the San Joaquin Kannada Sangha, a registered 501(C)3 non-profit organization based in Mountain House, CA. The Sangha is committed to celebrating, preserving, and promoting the culture, heritage, and language of Karnataka while engaging in community service and charitable activities.
